Caving at Brecon Beacons

Explore the underground landscapes of the Brecon Beacons and step into a world of mystery with our caving experience. Perfect for corporate team building and school groups (year 6+) this adventure takes you deep beneath the earth’s surface to navigate through ancient rock formations, caverns, and hidden passageways as our expert guides lead the way.

Using Porth-Yr-Ogof cave in the Brecon Beacons, this cave boasts fifteen entrances, including the largest cave entrance in South Wales; it’s an impressive site for both beginners and seasoned explorers.  An alternative cave system may be used in the event of prohibiting weather conditions.

Our qualified and experienced cave leaders play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of your caving experience. They will lead the group through the cave system, selecting the safest and most appropriate routes based on the group’s skill level, highlighting interesting features and facilitating challenges to make a great underground experience.

Important Information:

Porth-Yr-Ogof cave is a cave in Brecon Beacons, South Wales ideal for all abilities and most weather conditions. However, should weather conditions prohibit the safe delivery of the activity an alternative cave system will be used. In extreme conditions, the date may need to be rescheduled.

You are required to meet at Porth-Yr-Ogof Cave, Cwm Porth Car Park CF44 9JF where our cave leaders will meet you. Transport is not included. Please note you must cover the cost of parking for your vehicle/s (approx £7). The car park is only suitable for minibuses, not coaches.

Times include check-in, briefing and kitting up. Finish times may vary slightly depending on the group size.

We can accommodate group sizes up to 12, with a maximum of 2 groups. A minimum of 8 people are required and you will be charged this should your numbers fall below 8.

For youth groups consisting of under 18-year-olds, 1 adult aged over 18 is required and will be included at no charge and is not included in the ratio numbers. Additional staff members are chargeable and must be included in the ratio numbers.

The activity is suitable for school years 6+ and adults.

Lunch is not provided. Please bring your own food and drink.

You will be provided with wellies, cave suit, helmet and head lamp.

Final numbers are required 3-weeks before the booking date and all participants must have completed the participant consent form shared with the group organiser. An invoice will be sent on confirmation of final numbers and payment is due within 5 working days.

If there are any individuals with behavioural, learning and/or physical needs, please discuss this with us before booking so that we can ensure we can provide adequate care and safety for the experience.

Packing list:

Caving is an outdoor activity where conditions may be muddy, wet and cold. Please dress appropriately in old sports clothes that will get dirty. No jeans. The temperature underground is constant year-round. Do not bring valuables where possible. We recommend that you remove any jewellery.

You must also bring:

  • Change of clothes
  • Towel
  • Wellies (these can be provided if required)
